Spain Iberico was born from a virtual quarantine conversation between David and Carlos, two old friends from Ávila, Spain. At the time, they were debating the prospect of Spain facing another economic crisis like the one they had already lived through at Uni.
David, living in London since 2013, mentioned that he only had a single piece of Jamon left in his fridge and the COVID-19 crisis had stolen his opportunity to return to Spain for a re-supply. You know, the kind of trip where bags come back overflowing with food and tasty produce. The kind of bags that could fix even the worst bouts of homesickness!
Carlos, having grown up in a family of butchers, was well placed to provide some assistance, pointing out that another old friend of theirs was a popular Jamon producer…
Friends from the age of six, David and Carlos have always been linked through their humility and work ethic. The prospect of working together on a project that allows them to provide high quality products to the general public but also help support local Spanish producers has them energised and excited to welcome anyone that wants to share in the experience, nuestra casa es su casa, amig@s!
